The ongoing coronavirus outbreak has had an impact on our events programme. Please read the latest update on ULI Europe's event schedule.
22 April 2020
The Capital Market Forum ULI France held its last Council webinar on March 25 in a restricted committee. Some fifteen industry leaders from a variety of backgrounds, including owners, insurers, third-party investor-managers, real estate companies, subsidiaries of banking groups, consultants and developers, were able to exchange freely.
During the first part of the Council, Eric Chaney, economic advisor to the Institut Montaigne, and previously chief economist for AXA’s global operations, presented his convictions on macroeconomic and financial scenarios on the theme: Covid-19, economic impact and consequences. The main lessons that emerged were as follows:
– The best economic strategy to limit damage: protecting the economy’s supply – and monetary financing of public deficits. Therefore, support businesses.
– The most important political issue: preventing a relapse and therefore an L-shaped scenario. It is all about the health policy put in place because a second wave of contagion in a few months must be avoided at all costs.
– Financial markets will remain volatile until the L-shaped scenario is ruled out. This is not yet the case.
In the second part of the Council, each participant was able to rebound on the key macroeconomic points raised at the level of its structure, and was able to freely exchange on their respective actions undertaken, their ways of acting. They also initiated the first reflections on collective action and preparation for the post-Covid 19 period.
The next session is scheduled for the end of April with a focus on the topic Expertise values.
