The Product Council Urban Regeneration ULI France, held an exciting new session in Lyon earlier in May.
This think tank is led by Carine Robert – Icade, Fabien Guisseau – Grand Paris Aménagement, Etienne Riot – PCA Stream, as well as Fanny Laurence – NHOOD and Paula SZEJNFELD SIRKIS – Woodeum, and is working this year around the theme of Urban Recycling
The topic of the session was the practical case of Lyon Confluence land recycling, or how the City of Lyon and its urban and ecological policies translate into the Confluence project.
Highlights of that session:
– Welcome to SPL Lyon Confluence. Samuel LINZAU – Managing Director SPL Lyon Confluence presented, around the model, the genesis of the project to transform the historic site, back in 2003; the detailed mass plan with the constant objectives of making Confluence a lively and creative district for all, bringing serenity and calm in the city by creating generous public spaces and reconnecting with the river ; the actions taken to combat global warming thanks to the “ilots traversants” (cool islands and natural ventilation) ; the greening of spaces – permeable soils, urban forest… – and the creation of fertile soil. This major urban project is the result of joint action by all the players involved and of extensive consultation.
– We then zoomed in on the project to redevelop Perrache station, presented by Ludovic Boepsflug – Quartus, Anthony Moreau – Apsys and Etienne Fradin EXNDO architectures. This project to convert the CELP (Centre d’Echanges Lyon Perrache) aims to create porosity between north and south. This exchange hub, with its strong historical and technical constraints, aims to create a transitional site with high environmental performance.
– Members then visited the Albizia construction site with Alexandre Roblin, WOODEUM. This low-carbon operation, with 80% of its structure in wood and a mixed program, perfectly illustrates the challenge of creating viable sites and meeting the needs of future residents.
A rich visit, with an incredible panorama of the top floors as a bonus!
Many thanks to Carine and her team for organizing the event, and to SPL Lyon Confluence and all those involved.
