Urban Plan is a day-long educational programme in the form of a collaborative serious game...
ULI France successfully launched the 1st Urban Plan pilot project in French, at the Lycée technologique Louise Michel in Bobigny!
Education is the DNA of the Urban Land Institute – ULI. Urban Plan is a day-long educational programme in the form of a collaborative serious game, encouraging students to get involved in the complex process of making decisions that have an impact on the urban and built environment.
The students take on roles corresponding to different professions in the property and planning sector.
In response to a fictitious call for tenders from the city, the young people, working in groups and competing against each other, have to regenerate a district, taking into account various criteria, in particular the diversity of uses (housing, offices, shops, etc.), ESG criteria, under the constraint of delivering a minimum financial return, in order to encourage the creation of diverse and more sustainable communities.
The students responded dynamically and playfully to the city’s call for tenders, drawing up their vision as a team, putting together their neighbourhood project in the form of a model, and finally pitching their project to the jury.
The members of the jury, made up of Nathalie Bardin, Raphael Brault, Arnaud Lunel, Xavier Ramette and François Trausch, volunteered their time, expertise and experience, interacted with the students throughout the workshop, judged the various projects and determined the winners according to a number of precise criteria (societal criteria, diversity, sustainable development and environmental certification, IRR, design, innovation, consideration of mobility, etc.). but also soft skills such as pitching and team building…. ) the best of the projects.
Well done to all the students for their hard work and determination throughout the day, who played this serious game with passion, not to mention the fact that they had already finished their courses and had come back especially for this workshop! For some of them, it was a vocation waiting to happen…
And congratulations to the winning team!
